This update from Google for Google Maps was one of the most awaiting feature. Including Hashtags in Google Maps Reviews is going to give better search results and users can know how a particular place is good for them. According to the report by TechCrunch, you can use up to five hashtags in a review. The hashtags can be included at the end of the review for better readability of the reviews.
Using hashtags in reviews was only limited for members of Google Maps-“Local Guide program”. But now everyone can use the hashtags in their reviews. Guides were told that they can use hashtags in the old as well as new reviews. With the introduction of hashtags now you can get better search results.
Now if you are reviewing a place which is best for candlelight dinner then you can add #candlelightdinner into your reviews or if the place is best suited for dating spot you can add #datingspot into your reviews.
How Google Maps hashtags different from Other Social Apps
Google Maps hashtags is different from Other social apps in such a way that you can not use hashtags like #love or #sweet, as these hashtags doesn’t make any sense. You can only use hashtags which makes sense like #goodforfood or #sunsetviews which makes some sense which is useful for the people. According to Google, general hashtags like #love or #sweet is not helpful for people.
Google might have brought out this update to compete with Facebook pages ans Instagram as hashtags are mostly used in these platforms.
With the addition of hashtags in Google Maps reviews, it may become a good platform for finding a business and other places. Google also told its Local Guides to use #LetsGuide to help users with their personal recommendation.
How to use Hashtags in Google Reviews
Using new hashtags in Google reviews is very simple. You just have to click on the letters which are in blue in the review provided and one you click on that word it will take you the places with the same features in your nearby places.
This feature is only limited to Android users till now and no update has been given by Google that when it will roll out for IOS and Web.
